Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is indigenous toย Britain and cultivated in Germany, France and Morocco.
The plant grows about 12 inches high with white flowers,ย yellow center and slightly furry leaves. The flowerย heads are harvested and steam distilled to produce aย pale yellow liquid. The oils chemical constituentsย include: camphene, b. pinene, sabinene, myrcene, y.ย terpinene, propel angelate, butyl angelate,ย ย caryophellene, a. pinene, and cineole.
Possible uses: Abscesses, acne,ย allergies, arthritis, blisters, boils, colic, colitis,ย cuts, cystitis, depression, dermatitis, dysmenorrhea,ย earache, eczema, flatulence, gout, hair, headache,ย indigestion, inflamed skin, insect bites, insomnia,ย irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, nervous tensionย (anxiety, fear), neuralgia, PMS, psoriasis,ย ย rheumatism, sores, sprains, strains, stress, wounds.
To relax and unwind after a full day of work, treatย yourself to a calming compress. Swirl two drops of roman chamomile in a sinkย full of water and capture the mixture in a clean washcloth. Place the clothย on your forehead; recline and relax.
A soothing moisturizer for sensitive skin can be made withย five drops of roman chamomile, three drops of lemon and four drops ofย lavender, blended into one ounce of unscented lotion. (Avoid sun exposureย after application.)
Chamomile derives its name from the Greek kamai melon, meaning ground apple, becauseย its strong fruity scent resembles that of fallen apples.
